I'm not sure anyone is demanding more of these lists, but I made a commitment to do ten and I don't ignore my writing commitments or deadlines, so it's on to the next list:
The Top Ten Things I Could Do While Standing Around Waiting For My Dog To Decide Whether And Where To Do His Business
Number 10: Watch paint dry.
Number 9: Watch paint weather, fade, and flake off in the wind as climate change destroys the earth and the sun goes supernovae.
Number 8: Rotate the tires on my car (fortunately, I do this while waiting for other people to take their turns in board games).
Number 7: Marvel at my dog’s incredible tracking skills as he follows an unknown scent, sniffing each footfall in the snow carefully print by print while his sister walks two steps in front of him creating the prints.
Number 6: Watch Game of Thrones.
Number 5: Read Game of Thrones.
Number 4: Write a doctoral dissertation on all of the differences between the book and the show Game of Thrones and produce it as a musical-comedy show off-Broadway.
Number 3: Watch my dog’s butt in the hope that something will happen (this is my go-to solution).
Number 2: Yes, I could do number 2 in the time it takes my dog to decide to do number 2.
And the number 1 thing I could do while standing around waiting for my dog to decide whether and when to do his business: Write this top ten list.
